BRASS AND WOODWINDS

Competitor must supply an original copy of the music for the adjudicator’s use. For all Brass and Woodwind classes, one or two pieces may be performed.

1. Competitor’s own choice unless otherwise indicated of any solo piece from the current RCM Syllabus in level Participants in Flute classes may use the Canada Conservatory Classical Syllabus.

PERCUSSION

Snare, Mallet Instruments, Drum Set, Timpani, Multiple Percussion Set-Ups

NOTES:

1. Elementary and Junior Percussion Requirements:
   1. Two selections consisting of contrasting styles to include works on any two percussion instruments of their
   2. Memorization is encouraged but not
   3. Two own choice selections.
2. Intermediate Percussion Requirements:
   1. Two selections consisting of contrasting styles to include works on any two of mallets, timpani or snare
   2. Memorization is encouraged but not
   3. At least two consecutive movements of a piece for Keyboard Percussion (eg. marimba, vibraphone, xylophone) or Timpani or
   4. One own choice
3. Senior Percussion Requirements: Three selections consisting of contrasting styles to include works on any two of mallets, timpani or snare drum. Memorization is encouraged but not required.
   1. One work for Keyboard Percussion (eg. marimba, vibraphone, xylophone)
   2. One work for Timpani or multi-percussion or Snare Drum,
   3. One own choice selection
4. Advanced Percussion Requirements:
   1. Three selections consisting of contrasting styles to include works on two of mallets, timpani and snare drum. This is a National Music Festival Qualifying Class. All works for solo percussion instruments must be memorized. For multi- instrument works, memorization is encouraged but not required.
   2. One work for Keyboard Percussion (eg. marimba, vibraphone, xylophone)
   3. One work for Timpani or multi-percussion or SnareDrum
   4. One own choice selection
5. Accurate performance times must be included on the Application.
